Why we receive so many promotional emails?
How?
and Wherefrom?

Well, we all are using gmail for our day to day official communications. Earlier in gmail we use to have only one inbox where we use to receive all our incoming emails. But at that time mostly we use to receive emails from known people.
Slowly we started getting unwanted emails as well. Then at one point we all experience that we are getting almost all unwanted emails only on daily basis instead of important official one.
This was all ridiculous. We were facing tough time to find out our one important email.
Then comes the update from gmail. Gmail started sorting our emails under five different tabs.
1. Primary
2. Social
3. Promotions
4. Updates
5. Forums
Now we can see all promotional marketing emails here under Promotions tab.
Let's find out why we receive so many promotional emails ?
Simple answer to this is now a days everyone is having smartphone with internet. Almost all of us use mobiles throughout day. We make almost all our payments by using digital mode of payments.  This habit of us has created opportunity for entire world marketers to market their products directly to us.

Now let's address to our next query, How & wherefrom we receive these emails ?
There are many different ways available to marketers to reach our email.
1. Usually the Banks, Big malls, educational institutions, Insurance providers, hospitals, small vendors, various online competitions, online courses, Youtube channels, online sales providers such as Amazon, flipkart etc,  Automobile service providers, tours and travels service providers and many more are constantly asking us to provide mobile no. and email address. And we are giving them both for our convenience.
Once we have given them our emails , they start sending all informative and marketing emails to us. Unknowingly we all are giving our mobile no. & email address almost daily to someone. Sometimes we sign up certain news letters also. That is why we receive so many emails.
2. Through Email Service Providers.
These professional people have bigger collection of email addresses category wise. Most of the companies opt for these providers as they provide reporting on the email campaigns. Reporting will include opens, clicks, bounces, opt outs, device the recipient opened the email as well as how many of them went on to purchase.

Some interesting facts of promotional emails -
1. Marketing emails should never be send outside business hours (8am to 6pm)
2. Thursday is best for sending promotional emails. Thursday is best day if you are looking for high open rates.
3.Tuesday at second place. Tuesday being the best day for highest click- through rates.
